Aurora Guide

Recommended Winter Outfit

Start with a thermal base layer, then add fleece and an insulated waterproof outer layer.
Don't forget gloves, thermal socks, and a hat that covers your ears. Good boots are essential for snow and ice.

Base Layer (Inner Layer)

  • Thermal underwear (top and bottom) – preferably wool or synthetic, not cotton
  • Warm socks (merino wool is ideal)

Middle Layer

  • Fleece or wool sweater
  • Warm pants (ski pants or thick fleece)

Outer Layer

  • Waterproof and windproof winter jacket
  • Insulated snow pants

Accessories

  • Winter hat covering the ears
  • Scarf or neck warmer
  • Waterproof gloves or mittens (preferably insulated)
  • Warm boots with thick soles and space for wool socks

Additional Tips

  • Dress in multiple thin layers rather than one thick one – it traps warm air better
  • Avoid cotton clothing – it absorbs moisture and makes you feel cold
  • Keep your head, hands, and feet well protected – most body heat is lost through these areas
  • Bring hand warmers or foot warmers if you get cold easily
  • We recommend thermal boots and gloves for Northern Lights or Ice Fishing tours (available on request)
